Student Leader Christon Menezes for KSRTC Bus Service Between Bantwal and Moodbidri
Mangalore, October 9, 2025 – Christon Menezes, President of NSUI Mangalore City South, has taken up the cause of students and residents facing significant challenges due to the absence of KSRTC bus services on the Bantwal-Moodbidri route. The lack of government buses has forced commuters, especially students, to rely on costly and overcrowded private buses, raising concerns about affordability and safety.
Menezes highlighted that students cannot utilize KSRTC student bus passes, placing a financial burden on those from economically weaker backgrounds. Additionally, women are unable to benefit from the Congress state government’s Shakti Yojana, which offers free travel on KSRTC buses.
To address this issue, Menezes met with Shri Ivan D’Souza, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Council, Government of Karnataka, and submitted a formal request for the introduction of KSRTC bus services on the route. Shri D’Souza responded by writing to Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Transport, urging immediate action.
Menezes also personally met Shri Shridhar Mallad, Deputy Commissioner of Transport and Senior Regional Officer, Mangalore, and Shri Rajesh Shetty, Senior Divisional Controller, KSRTC Mangalore Division, to press the matter further. The Senior DC assured that the request would be forwarded to the KSRTC Puttur Division for consideration.
Shri Ivan D’Souza pledged full support to ensure the introduction of the bus service, which would greatly benefit students, women, and the general public. Menezes expressed optimism, stating that this initiative would alleviate financial strain on students and reinforce public trust in the government’s commitment to welfare.
