Mangaluru, Oct 11: A case has been registered at the Urwa police station against three Kerala natives — Malayalam actor Jayakrishnan, Santosh Abraham and Vimal — for allegedly hurling communal and abusive remarks at a Muslim cab driver in Mangaluru.
According to the police complaint, on the night of October 9, the accused booked a cab through the Uber and Rapido Captain apps, giving their pickup address as Bejai New Road, Mangaluru. The complainant, cab driver Ahmed Shafiq, contacted them through the app to confirm the pickup location.
During the conversation, the accused allegedly spoke in Hindi and mocked him, calling him a Muslim extremist and terrorist. They reportedly shouted ‘Muslim terrorist’ in Hindi and also used abusive language in Malayalam, targeting his mother.
Based on the complaint filed by Ahmed Shafiq, a case has been registered under Crime No. 103/2025 at Urwa police station under Sections 352 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police sources confirmed that the investigation is underway into the incident involving Malayalam actor Jayakrishnan and his associates Vimal and Santosh, who allegedly made the communal slurs against the cab driver.
