Bengaluru, Karnataka – October 11, 2025: The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has launched a nationwide campaign
titled “Haya is life: Meaning, Morality, and Tranquility” to address the growing moral and psychological crisis among youth globally, including in India. Running from October 12 to November 10, 2025, the campaign seeks to revive the Islamic concept of Haya as a key to finding purpose and mental peace in an increasingly hyper-sexualized and materialistic world.
The campaign presents Haya not as social repression but as the soul’s “living shield” and an inner light that preserves human dignity and faith. Rooted in Islamic teachings, Haya is described as a distinctive quality of Islam and the foundation of social ethics, fostering self-respect and accountability before God.
At a press conference held today, SIO leaders identified the root cause of the youth crisis—marked by rising depression, identity crises, and a sense of meaninglessness—as the distortion of human purpose driven by modern Western philosophies.

Mohammad Hayyan, State Secretary of SIO Karnataka, outlined the campaign’s objectives, stating: “Modern humanism elevates human desire as the ultimate authority, while liberalism promotes absolute autonomy with slogans like ‘my body, my choice.’ This has fostered a culture that glorifies indulgence and relies on utilitarian morality, eroding moral boundaries and weakening the family unit.” SIO leaders warned of the “weaponization of desire,” manifested through digital culture, OTT platforms, hypersexual media, and influencer lifestyles, which normalize sexual immorality and commodify the human body. With India ranking among the top consumers of online pornography, the consequences for future generations are profound.
S. Adi Al Hasan, State President of SIO Karnataka, emphasized the urgency of the initiative: “In a world saturated with pornography, gadget addiction, vulgar content, and toxic pop culture, our youth are being systematically driven toward meaninglessness and purposelessness. Reviving Haya is a civilizational imperative for mental and moral well-being.”
Yusuf Saqlain, State Secretary of SIO Karnataka, highlighted the role of morality in shaping young minds to inspire and contribute to a better society. He noted the detrimental impact of Western cultural influences on youth and outlined the campaign’s planned activities across Karnataka to address these issues.
The campaign proposes a three-pronged strategy for moral restoration:
Strengthening Family Fortresses: Reasserting the role of marital and family life as essential protectors against immorality and loneliness.
Establishing Support Systems: Creating religious and community centers to guide youth in managing desires with empathy.
Advocating Legal Interventions: Pushing for strong policies to regulate “social poisons” such as vulgar content and exploitative advertising.

The SIO Karnataka Chapter will observe the campaign from October 12 to November 10, 2025, under the theme “Haya is Life: Meaning, Morality, and Tranquility.” Key activities planned across the state include:

Campus lectures on the concept of Haya at state and central universities.
Corner meetings, dedicated Friday sermons in mosques, and large-scale public conferences promoting the value of a morally grounded life.
Interactive exhibitions showcasing youth issues, challenges, and Islamic solutions through art, displays, and counseling sessions.
Public relations meetings with psychologists and influential figures to build a unified approach.
Dedicated parenting and adolescence workshops to strengthen the family unit.
Counseling sessions for individuals struggling with severe addiction.

The SIO positions this campaign as a collective “call to action” for parents, educators, community leaders, and policymakers to serve as guides, mentors, and torchbearers for the younger generation.
Mohammad Johar Kashif (State General Secretary, SIO Karnataka), Mohammad Peer Latageri (Member, State Advisory Council), and other state leaders were present at the press conference.
