Karkala, October 10, 2025 : In a tragic incident, a young man reportedly died by suicide by hanging himself in a lodge after allegedly being blackmailed by his friends, who threatened to leak a private video of him with his girlfriend. The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, October 9, 2025, at a private lodge in Belman.
The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Acharya, aged 23, a resident of Parappady in Nitte village. Abhishek was employed at a private company in Mangaluru and was reportedly in a relationship with a local woman. The couple had allegedly recorded a private video together.
According to available information, Abhishek’s friends learned about the relationship and allegedly threatened to make the private video public. Distressed by continuous mental harassment and humiliation, Abhishek reportedly wrote a death note naming four individuals who had been blackmailing him before taking his life in the lodge room.
The Karkala Rural Police visited the scene, seized the death note and Abhishek’s mobile phone, and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. The police stated that the exact reason for the suicide would be confirmed only after retrieving data from Abhishek’s mobile phone.
