Udupi, Oct. 4: A massive fire broke out at the solid waste management unit in Karvali, under the jurisdiction of Alevoor Grampanchayat and the Udupi Municipal Corporation, resulting in an estimated loss of crores of rupees.
The fire erupted at around 3 AM today, engulfing the entire unit. The building, several pieces of machinery, and waste stored in the shed were completely destroyed.
Upon receiving the information, Udupi Fire Brigade officers and staff rushed to the scene with two fire tenders and successfully brought the fire under control. According to Municipal Corporation officials, the estimated loss is approximately ₹6-7 crore.
