Bantwal: The Bantwal Rural Police have seized the house and illegal slaughterhouse of an individual repeatedly involved in cattle theft and slaughter cases. This marks the first instance in Dakshina Kannada (D.K.) district where a house or illegal slaughterhouse has been seized under the Karnataka Cattle Slaughter Prevention and Protection Act, 2020, according to the district police.
Hasanabba Gokalvu, a resident of Maripalla in Pudu village under the jurisdiction of Bantwal Rural Police Station, is an accused in multiple cattle slaughter cases. He has been arrested and charged under various sections of the Karnataka Cattle Slaughter Prevention and Protection Act, 2020. Previously, cases were registered against him in 2017 and 2018 under the same act.
The police stated that Hasanabba was involved in cattle theft and had constructed an illegal slaughterhouse at his residence without a permit, where he slaughtered and processed meat from stolen cattle. To curb his activities, the Bantwal Rural Police submitted a report to the Assistant Commissioner and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Mangalore Sub-Division, requesting the seizure of the illegal slaughterhouse.
Based on this report, the Assistant Commissioner and Sub-Divisional Magistrate took action under Sections 8(4) and 8(5) of the Karnataka Cattle Slaughter Prevention and Protection Act, 2020. On September 25, 2025, the house and illegal slaughterhouse, located at house numbers 6-54 and 6-54(1) in Maripalla Padi under Pudu Gram Panchayat, owned by the accused Hasanabba, were seized and taken into government custody.
