Udupi, Karnataka – September 12, 2025 – In a significant boost to local infrastructure and traffic flow, the Indrali flyover on National Highway 169 is nearing completion and will open to vehicular traffic on September 22, 2025. Concurrently, long-delayed repairs on the severely damaged Lower Parkala Road are slated to begin as early as Monday, September 15, following persistent rainfall disruptions.

The announcement came during an on-site inspection by Member of Parliament (MP) Kota Srinivas Poojary and Udupi MLA Yash Pal Suvarna, accompanied by senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and local administration. The visit underscored the urgency of addressing traffic bottlenecks in the region, exacerbated by monsoon-related road deterioration.

"The Indrali flyover is almost complete, with only the final stages of work remaining. It will be opened for traffic on September 22," stated MP Poojary. He further directed NHAI officials and contractors to expedite the Lower Parkala Road repairs, mandating completion within one week to minimize further inconvenience to commuters.

Echoing these sentiments, MLA Suvarna highlighted the collaborative efforts that secured special funding for the project. "The Indrali Railway Overbridge will be inaugurated on the first day of Navratri and opened for vehicular traffic," he said. "In response to the impassable conditions on Lower Parkala Road, the National Highways Department has allocated special funds at the insistence of the MPs. The work will proceed scientifically and be finished within a week."

Suvarna expressed regret over the hardships faced by motorists and residents due to the road's chaotic state during the rains, urging public cooperation during the repair phase to ensure smooth execution.

The inspection was attended by key dignitaries, including District Commissioner Smt. Swaroop T. K., District Superintendent of Police Shri Hariram Shankar, Additional Superintendent Shri Sudhakar Naik, NHAI Engineer Shri Manjunath Naik, and Municipal Council members Smt. Sumitra Naik, Shri Girish Anchan, and Shri Ashok Naik.

These developments are expected to alleviate longstanding connectivity issues in Udupi, enhancing safety and efficiency for daily commuters. Further updates on progress will be shared as work advances.
