New Delhi, September 9, 2025 - C.P. Radhakrishnan has been elected as the 15th Vice President of India, securing 452 votes in the election held today. The former Maharashtra Governor emerged victorious in the first round, defeating his opponent, Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, who secured 300 votes.

The election was conducted following the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankar, the previous Vice President, who stepped down on July 21 due to health reasons. Voting took place at the Parliament House between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., with counting beginning at 6 p.m. The contest featured a direct face-off between NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan and Indi Alliance candidate Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy. An official announcement is still awaited to confirm the results.

This election marks a significant political event, with the outcome reflecting the strong support for Radhakrishnan in the parliamentary vote.
