A report has surfaced alleging that Naveen Chandrashetty, a former taluk panchayat member from Amasebailu, former president of the Udupi District Dharmasthala Project’s Public Awareness Committee, and a BJP leader, attempted to molest a married woman who is a member of the Dharmasthala Sangha. The incident reportedly occurred on Friday when Naveen called the woman to his house under the pretext of work related to religious protection. The CPM Udupi District Committee has strongly condemned this act.

It is alleged that Naveen Chandrashetty, tasked with mobilizing people for a religious protection campaign, contacted the woman to distribute pamphlets door-to-door. He reportedly asked her to bring the pamphlets to his house. When the woman arrived at his house, where no one else was present, the accused allegedly attempted to molest her. The woman managed to escape and informed her family about the incident.

The victim’s family lodged a complaint at the Amasebailu police station, and a case has been registered, according to the police department.

It is being discussed among locals that Kundapur MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi is allegedly supporting the accused, Naveen Chandrashetty, and attempting to suppress the case by mediating a settlement. This is highly condemnable. It is also said that the accused, Naveen Chandra, is currently absconding.

Since a complaint has been filed directly by the victim, the CPM demands that the accused be immediately traced, brought to justice, and punished to ensure justice for the woman.
