A pick-up van was crushed and its driver was injured following a landslip at the 6th hair pin curve on Agumbe Ghat in Shivamogga district on September 19, 2025.
The National Highways Division of Karnataka Public Works Department cleared landslip debris from Agumbe Ghat on September 20. The landslip had impacted vehicular movement between Udupi and Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts since September 19 evening.
The landslip brought down a large quantity of soil and many trees on September 19 evening on the 6th hair pin curve in Tirthahalli taluk of Shivamogga district on Malpe-Tirthahalli National Highway 169A. A pick-up vehicle was crushed under the debris. Its driver was injured. He is said to be recovering in a hospital in Manipal.

Fallen trees were removed by 9 am on Saturday, followed by clearing of soil debris, NH-PWD Assistant Executive Engineer Manjunath Naik said.
Hebri Police Sub Inspector T M Mahesh said the Ghat was opened for vehicular traffic by around Noon.
Mr. Naik said the continuing incessant rains must have triggered the landslip. A similar landslip was witnessed on HB Curve 11 last, he noted.
