A BJP leader's son was caught with a minor girl at a lodge in Manipal, Udupi district. The young man allegedly lured the girl to the lodge by promising to marry her.
During interrogation, it was revealed that another girl had also been similarly lured to the lodge. Given these circumstances, there is suspicion of a larger network behind this case. The police must take this incident seriously and conduct a thorough investigation to uncover any conspiracy, said Ashraf Bhava, President of SDPI Udupi, in a press release.
"This incident reflects the kind of culture that BJP leaders, who often talk about culture and women's protection, have passed on to their children. Many similar incidents have taken place in the district before this. Recently, in Karkala, a BJP leader and lecturer, was reported to have harassed his student. Similarly, in Amasebail, a BJP leader sexually assaulted a woman from Dharmasthala Sangh and was jailed. Another case was reported where pornographic videos of many women were found on the mobile of a friend of a BJP MLA from nearby Moodbidri, and he blackmailed many women. Also, in Puttur, a BJP leader's son, promised to marry a woman and impregnated her. Many such cases have been committed by BJP members. Therefore, society should be aware of the immorality they are committing by labeling these actions with religion, said Ashraf Bhava in a press release
