Mangaluru, Oct 9: Skeletal remains, including a skull, were found hanging from a tree and in nearby bushes att a private farm near Talapady, raising suspicion that they belong to a missing migrant worker from Bihar. The discovery was made after police found a mobile SIM card at the spot, which matched the number of a worker reported missing under the Manjeshwar police limits. The remains have been sent for forensic examination, and a case has been registered at Ullal police station.

According to reports, Rahul Kumar (17), a native of Bihar who worked at a furniture store in Kunjathur under the Manjeshwar police limits, had gone missing on August 7. A missing person complaint had been filed at the Manjeshwar police station, but no progress was made in tracing him.

At the Talapady site, police recovered a green Bermuda short, a green T-shirt, and a mobile phone from the spot, which appeared to belong to a male. A nylon rope was found tied to the tree branch, with a headphone and bones hanging from it.

The SIM card found at the scene was found to match the mobile number of the missing Rahul Kumar, leading police to suspect that the remains belong to him. However, the identity will be officially confirmed after the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report is received.

Ullal police, along with Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), collected the skull, bones, and other remains and sent them for FSL examination.
