Bengaluru, Oct 18: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced that the Karnataka government is committed to formulating a dedicated tourism policy for the coastal region, including Mangaluru and Udupi, to boost local employment and curb youth migration. He praised the people of the coastal belt for their significant contributions to the state’s cultural, educational, and religious heritage, as well as their role in establishing a robust banking system.
“The people of coastal Karnataka, particularly those from Dakshina Kannada, are highly educated, intelligent, and aware. They have excelled in various fields, including healthcare. The government stands firmly with you,” Shivakumar said. He emphasized the need to create employment opportunities within the region to ensure that local youth do not have to migrate in search of jobs, a point he has consistently highlighted in the past.
