Udupi, September 11, 2025 – The Hiriyadka police arrested two individuals on September 10 in connection with a case involving the illegal use of a firearm, which resulted in damage to a car and a house door. The incident occurred during an apparent hunting attempt in Kanajaru.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pradeep (32) from Kondadi village and Manoj (25) from Hiriyadka Guddeyangadi. The police seized an unlicensed pistol, seven additional pistols, and a motorcycle valued at approximately ₹40,000 from the suspects. Following their arrest, the accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
The incident took place in the early hours of September 1, 2025, near the residence of Gururaj Manjitthaya in Kanajaru. An unknown individual, believed to be hunting, fired a shot that struck the window of a car parked in front of Gururaj’s house and subsequently hit the wooden door of the residence. A case was promptly registered at the Hiriyadka police station.
The operation leading to the arrests was conducted under the supervision of Udupi District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, with support from Additional Superintendent of Police Sudhakar, Sub-Divisional DySP Prabhu DT, Circle Inspector Gopikrishna, Senior SSIs Puneeth Kumar, Vitthal Malvadakar, and police staff Praveen Rai, Krishna, and Karthik.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
