Kundapur, September 20: A boat crashed into the shore near Hangarakatte due to a technical fault, causing severe damage and causing a loss of lakhs of rupees.
The boat Mahakali, owned by Mahesh of Kodi Bengre, had set out for fishing from Kodi Bengre fishing port on the morning of September 17. By afternoon, while fishing, the boat developed a technical fault and the engine stalled. Despite repeated attempts, the engine could not be restarted.
Meanwhile, strong winds and waves pushed the boat ashore. It hit near Kodi in Kanyana village. The five people on board managed to escape safely. However, the boat and other equipment were damaged, causing an estimated loss of more than Rs 10 lakh.
A case has been registered at Kota Police Station regarding the incident.
