New Delhi: Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on Friday sharply responded to allegations of a "secret deal" with the government, asking whether he needs a character certificate to prove the authenticity of his 26-day hunger strike.
Wangchuk had recently ended his 26-day fast, which he undertook to support students protesting against the alleged NEET question paper leak. Following the conclusion of his protest, speculation arose claiming that he had struck a secret deal with the government to call off the fast.
Refuting these claims in a video message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Wangchuk clarified that no agreement had been made with the government and expressed frustration over having to defend the integrity of his protest.

Wangchuk shared that he had been receiving numerous calls expressing suspicion. *"Since this morning, many people have called to say that questions are being raised against me. They are asking why I chose to end my fast through a Union Minister instead of someone else, and what kind of deal or transaction took place,"* he added, dismissing the allegations as baseless.
