| UP Police Allegedly Detains Family of Jantar Mantar Protest Volunteer Mohd Junaid, Sparks Outrage |
New Delhi: Mohd Junaid, a volunteer associated with the ongoing student and youth-led protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, has alleged that the Uttar Pradesh Police raided his family home and detained several members of his family following his participation in the demonstrations.
According to Junaid, police officers took his father and his minor brother into custody during the alleged raid. The allegations were first reported by The Lallantop.

Junaid further claimed that in Meerut, his sister's father-in-law and her brother-in-law were also detained by the police.
He also alleged that officers seized his family's Aadhaar cards and bank passbooks during the operation.
At the time of publication, these are allegations made by Junaid, and the Uttar Pradesh Police has not issued an official response.
Jantar Mantar Protest Volunteer Alleges Police Harassment
Mohd Junaid has been volunteering by distributing food and drinking water to protesters at Jantar Mantar.
Speaking about the alleged police action, he said the authorities were attempting to intimidate him and his family because of his role in supporting the protest movement.
Junaid also alleged that officials from Masuri Police Station in Ghaziabad district have been pressuring his family to produce him before the police.
Questioning the action, he asked:
"What is my crime? Is providing food and water a crime?"
Political Party Expresses Support
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) issued a statement on X expressing support for Junaid.
The party alleged that instead of pursuing criminals, the Uttar Pradesh Police was targeting a volunteer engaged in humanitarian work during the protests.
CJP further stated that it is in contact with Junaid and intends to challenge any unlawful police action through legal channels.
Student Organisations Condemn Alleged Action
The allegations also drew criticism from student activists.
Danish Ali of the All India Students' Association (AISA) expressed solidarity with Junaid and his family, condemning what he described as illegal police action.
According to Ali, the Uttar Pradesh Police and the state government should be held accountable if the allegations are found to be true.
UP Police Yet to Respond
As of publication, the Uttar Pradesh Police has not publicly responded to Junaid's allegations regarding the raid, detentions, or seizure of personal documents.
The claims remain unverified allegations pending an official response from the authorities.
